Calcaires de la Sambre S.A.

Even though it is nearly two centuries old, (the first mining at Landelies started in 1821 - see the history of the company), Calcaires de la Sambre is very active, and constantly changing and developing. Over time, it has become an essential economic player in the region.

Its deposit, a limestone of an exceptional purity in CaCO3, has been the object of a geological study lead by Professor Poty of the University of Liege. The latter has not only confirmed the quality of the deposit, but also its quantity, thereby assuring a solid future for the quarry for many years to come.
